Back in IL and What Did I Do?

Visiting friends and family of course was great. One of the highlights of my summer was hanging out with Kim, after so many long seperations and so much has happened in our lives!

Jeremy and I enjoyed the great hospitality of Jenni and Scott. They have a wonderful babe, the Mighty Quinn and two foster children. While there I worked briefly for an organization of insane people who lobby congress. That's not why they are insane. They are actually the scariest people I have ever met, full of phobias, lies, and cruel tricks played on someone there for only a few days. Down with temping. (well for me, at least).

Several times a week I spend a good amount of my day inside of Due Gatti coffeeshop. Mr. Luke plays there once a week, for dough, kicks, dough, and free food (some of it made of bread-dough!). I have also spent some time down on our farm and our Empire in Greene County.

The Bluegrass Festival was spelndid (cheap, cheap) and I maintained the fantasy, up to the moment we left for the night, that an old chap would pop out of the shadows and mysteriously hand me a banjo, wink and leave. *SOB* We did sit in lawn chairs in the grass and our very bodies were filled with those sounds.

Here in town they are restoring the old Post Office to make a museum and we attended the kick off celebration. We were invited to join the Historical Society and I was begged to join Daughters of the Revolutionary War, yes I actually have one side of my family that came here like in the 1600's. But just one! Besides getting to poke around in a huge completely gutted old building (dance of delight) I also got free wine!

And I caught two flicks. Batman Begins, the perfect Batman movie. My favorite comic hero is returned to his full glorious dark, fear inducing grandeur. But I have to ask. Why do they put h*t men like Cillian Murphy in movies. Why? Why can't they just fill movies with Brad Pitt and his loathsome ape-like ilk. (Sorry Brad Pitt fans, but I know your disgust for me and Adrien Brody, et all)

Jeremy help, help! *SHAME*

Then there was Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I absolutely adored the first movie. Oh Gene Wilder you are so sweet and goofy in that film and I love your clothes! The sets are great, the kids are great. The first record (and I mean record!) I ever bought was the soundtrack to that darn film. However, I love Roald Dahl's book tremendoulsy more. So dark and terribly funny. I adore his writing and his horror-comedy for adults, marvelous. What is it about British children's authors?? Anyhow. This new film completely BLOWS OUT OF THE WATER the first one. In my mind there is no comparison. I will cherish Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for Gene Wilder's performance, but this new one is SPOT ON!!!

Oh man, I'm still looking at Cillian Murphy's photos on Yahoo. . .
