Training in Boston

As part of my job at Liberty Mutual I was required to fly to Boston. This gave me great pause when I was offered the job and not Jeremy, as I have never flown without a companion. Then too pressure from friends and family lead me to turn down the job and then I realized the mistake and asked for the job back and got it!

Boston was wonderful. It was in the low teens or below 0 degrees Farenheit for most of the trip. Oh how I had been longing for weather like that after month after month of 100 degrees plus in Phoenix and the lack of winter or fall. Truly my body and my bones thought it was fall and winter and fought my mind about this, despite the temperatures.

In Boston I had long days of training, but it was all paid. I drank up my food money in alcohol, but did have some good meals. At night I was so depressed all I could do was watch home improvement shows and documentaries about gruesome operations. The rest of my group refused to drive due to the fact that Boston is the number one worst place to drive in the US and the drivers are known as. . . massholes.

So I drove the crappy brand new Kia Amanti (something like a very poor imitation of a Mercedes). That v-6 engine behaved like an starving 4 clyinder two door. Yet I suffered through it and enjoyed the cut throat driving. Sure we got lost a few times, but always found our way back.

Peter made me an excellent map of the downtown. On a Saturay I ferried in a group of girls, but no one wanted to see the historic sites. Despite the ten degrees weather Jeremy's fleece and my thermals kept me nice and toasty. Really the cold made me feel alive, how I love it. I spent around five hours or so walking the entire downtown and visiting Paul Revere's house, The Constitution, an enchanting 17th Century Cemetery, the Old North Church, and took a ferry ride. Oh and then took the Subway back to a point nearer where I had parked. Somehow the others got back without me driving them.

Coming here to Boston caused me to break 12 years of vegetarianism in order to eat fish. Well the wheat allergy had been cramping my eating for five years anyhow. Wheat is in everything!
